Immunoglobulins are one of the most important components of the immune system for preventing illness. They recognise and dispose of potential sources of infection. What is Lactoferrin?
Lactoferrin is a naturally occuring glycoprotein, present in breast milk, tears, saliva and other secretions. It is found in the body where it is especially vulnerable to attack by bacteria, virus or fungi - such as in the gut, eyes, ears, nose, throat and urinary tract. With immune-supporting properties, Lactoferrin is known to play a major role in the body's defence system against infection. As we age, the body loses its ability to efficiently produce Lactoferrin. This is where taking a Lactoferrin supplement can help.
Where is the Lactoferrin in ImmuneLife sourced from?
The Lactoferrin in ImmuneLife comes from the whey protein fraction of bovine (cow) milk, which is rich in Lactoferrin. The whey used to extract Lactoferrin comes from cows grazed in the pristine environment of the Atherton Tablelands in Northern Queensland.
Starting with the whey protein fraction, the purified bioactive proteins are chilled and gently extracted to maintain maximum activity and purity. Following purification and concentration, the Lactoferrin is dried using a freeze drying technique to preserve bio-activity, resulting in a highly concentrated form of Lactoferrin powder which is less than 1% fat and lactose free. This is then used for the manufacture of ImmuneLife products, to enhance the body's natural immune system.
